Is anyone else getting a bit perturbed by how “normal” lockdowns are seeming now?

Dec 31, 2020, 10:24 AM

In all areas of the world.

Think back to early 2020. When I heard the news of China completely shutting down the city of Wuhan I remember thinking how absolutely insane that was. Shutting down an entire city of 10 million people??

Then Italy became the first western country to shut down large swaths of their country and the insanity continued (what I mean by “insane” in this instance isn’t that it was wrong but that it was just crazy to comprehend it happening).

Fast forward to now and lockdowns have became a part of our regular lives. I feel like they should always feel crazy and last resort. Not ever feel normal. I just worry that when we are finally out of this mess, governments around the world won’t start semi-regularly using lockdowns for all matter of things since we have become accustomed to them.

Have to agree with Bill Gates on this one. An economy

So you and bill gates use a single person to represent death, and the economy as a whole? What about those individuals that lost everything with absolutely zero science backing that loss. Go to their front door and tell them it was for the good of humanity.

Where do you live? I've been going pretty much where I want with only minor changes. Most of the asks seem fairly reasonable.

get used to it, total control is inevitable,

Dec 31, 2020, 11:13 AM

this was elected and you can expect the new administration to keep you scared and under control. It won't change in your lifetime!

Some parts of London just went to a phase 4 lockdown which..

Dec 31, 2020, 11:23 AM

means people can't leave their homes except for critical or absolutely necessary purposes. They are talking about a phase 5. I wonder what that's about.

I certainly don’t envy England in this scenario

Dec 31, 2020, 12:09 PM

Seems like a nightmare with ultra strict restrictions and people reporting neighbors. Their numbers aren’t any better than here either

No because it’s temporary. If they were to lock down for

Dec 31, 2020, 11:42 AM

other things the people wouldn’t allow it. This is an anomaly and won’t become regular. Although the republicans who nowadays love a boogeyman and a fear narrative, will probably claim this will happen all the time now.

I know, I know. Just two more weeks, no reason to be alarmed.
