It's not that the SEC defenses are any worse.

The offenses are just getting better. Or that would be the SEC logic.

Offenses are better, but defenses have clearly declined.

Bama is probably about the same caliber defensively now that they were last year, but beyond that most of the teams are down, and some are wayyy down.
