Interesting: A direct line to CFP last 10 years

Dec 21, 2020, 9:53 AM

So, you have not yet made the college football playoffs or have won a national championship? Want to know how to do it?

Recruit

Clemson is one of seven schools to post a Top 15 ranked class each of the last 10 years (Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, and Ohio State are the others).

Each of those teams have made the College Football Playoffs/BCS during that time span and 5 of the 7 have won a National Championship (UGA and Notre Dame are the 2 that have not).

Those that played but not on the above list?
Oregon, Florida State, Michigan State, Oklahoma, and Washington

Both FSU and Oklahoma have/had recruited at similar level.

That leaves only Oregon and Washington as outliers.

I think you forgot Sparty as an outlier. They never recruited inside in the top 10 under Dantonio.

If you are counting 2020 as one of the 10 years to make the playoff/BCS then Auburn's 2010 title is outside of the range for winning a title.

They did make it in 2013 but they lost.
