In 2010, Rich Rod was paid $2.5 Million at Michigan.

10 years later, Clemson is paying our coordinators 2 Million and 2.4 Million.

Rich Rod was the 11th highest paid HEAD COACH in college football at MICHIGAN.

It is absolutely insane how much assistant coaches are getting paid, but good for them. Not complaining. It's just incredible.

Yes, just imagine if all hard working professional people like us got paid increases like coaches did...Coaches are becoming too elite and shoes are getting too big. All College coaches are becoming overpaid, I love Dabo, Tony and Brent but when does it stop?

Ticket prices will go up, fee's will go up etc to cover the costs.

Well, it's a market. So if you're unhappy with what colleges are paying coaches for talent, then quit valuing that talent by going to games and watching on TV. TV revenue and ticket sales are the feedback mechanisms for controlling what they make. Seem people are upset the nation values college football, and winning coaches as much as we do. So do your part bit don't get mad at choices the rest of society collectively make. Sometimes you'll disagree with the market, but the market is the best way. I don't like 400k dollar houses being built with 2 ft of yard, but thats what the rest of the market likes.

I believe it will stop once ticket prices, seat licenses, etc.

go up to the point where even elite programs find it difficult to consistently put butts in seats.

That’s why we are seeing the push for more upscale options like club seating, gourmet food, improved luxury boxes, etc. People giving a lot of money want to get a premium experience, not be crammed into a metal bleacher with the same predictable concession food and troughs for urinals.

Soon enough, the fan who just wants to have a seat and doesn’t care about upgrades or premium experiences will become disinterested in paying more and more to watch a game he can see on TV for free without the hassle.

We would probably be closer to that point now if we weren’t an elite program.

Yes I agree that "regular" jobs should increase your pay the better you perform at your job.

That is what is happening with Clemson's coaches.

Some schools are having the the wool pulled over their eyes and paying ridiculous amounts for coaches who are not performing at the level of the Clemson coaches.

If that were happening at a regular business, the business would be failing, but the blinded nature of college sports fans means that even the overpaid coaches are likely paid appropriately because the fans keep shelling out the money for tickets and apparel.

This isn't going to slow down anytime soon unless there is a major shift in fandom.

Insanity is doing the same thing time after time and expecting a different result. We, on the other hand are doing this expecting the same results. Sanity

In the old days coaches weren't paid much, but they had job security and lifetime benefits and so on. If things went south for a few years it didn't matter, the coach wasn't going anywhere. These days there is no job security and once they have a couple of bad years they are gone. Other big programs avoid them from then on. So it makes sense in one respect that they should be paid well with the gambles they are taking with their future.
