You don't need a cable to the lady's box. Just a micro-dish attached your downspout. She has 3 satellites orbiting her now that carry most programming, so you're in like Flynn.

Depending on the service providers, some can tell if someone is piggy backing off of another box. Plus there are codes the installer has to enter. Make sure it works several days before the game. Or you can get a really strong router and use her internet. The down side with Internet is will have the picture freeze up occasionally.

Couple of suggestions:
1. Get a peak at the box before game day to make sure you have the right tools for the job.
2. Just a guess, but it sounds like you neighbor's husband does not have the right tools. Don't expect him to be of help if you run into trouble.
3. Boxes these days are not like the ones of old. Old boxes used to only require one cable and you were good to go. Some boxes now require another box present for everything to work right. If you have the second box at home now you are planning to use, make sure they are compatible before game day. Definitely don't even try to run your single cable to a box that requires multiple cables at the same time.
4. Make sure you are the only neighbor running your cable into that box. You may find that she has already offered her box to the entire neighborhood! This would not result in a good game day experience.
