Very cootish attitude around our basketball program

Just because we are young does not excuse the fact that we will probably miss the tournament for the 8th time in Brownell’s tenure. We were one of the youngest teams in CFB this past year and played for a natty.
Also, having a bunch of returning players from a mediocre team is not necessarily a good thing. Sick of hearing how next year will be tournament or bust. Been hearing it for a decade.

That will not work one under. He is a fan. He listens to everything and sees very little.

That with what's gonna come out about Kansas and Self, and others, that overall basketball recruiting will get fairer. This travel basketball, shoe company, agent mess has to be cleaned up.

I am upset as anyone of how this season has gone but don't compare the basketball freshmen that are mostly 3-star talents and maybe one 4 star maybe to the football team that has mostly 5 star and 4-star talent. You are correct on your basis point though that it is unacceptable to only go to the tournament twice in 10 years while retaining the same coach.

Counterpoint... in Dabo’s 10th year what had he accomplished? The reason football rolls out high 4 and 5 star players is bc the coach brought them here.
I get some of it is dirty recruiting in basketball but shouldn’t a realistic expectation of a year in coach 10 to be bringing in higher levels of talent?

You're right, Dabo did bring them there.

He also has the best facilities in college football, the largest budget for assistant coaches in college football, an outstanding staff to help with recruiting and social media, and a rabid fan base that is considered among the best in college football.
Those significant advantages can't be ignored.

We’re you a Clemson fan in 2009 and 2010. Our facilities were terrible and coaching budget was small. If you look at football 2020 then yes I agree, however Dabo built that from scratch because he had a vision for his program and sold it. He did not inherit anything from facilities or budget.
Brownell has starting doing that to some degree but after 10 years seems we should be ahead. Not sure anymore what right thing is moving forward but you have to recognize the football growth was because of the head man in charge.

My point is that improved facilities and the best staff

money can buy has greatly improved our ability to recruit.
Per 247Sports, here are our recruiting rankings for football under Dabo:
2009: 36th 2010: 27th 2011: 10th 2012: 20th 2013: 15th 2014: 16th 2015: 9th 2016: 11th 2017: 16th 2018: 7th 2019: 10th 2020: 3rd
Of note, our 2008 class, which was Bowden's last, was top 10.
Our facilities were not "crap" when Dabo took over. The West End Zone had been completed not long before Dabo became our head coach. The indoor practice facility was completed in 2013, and the football operations building was completed in 2017. These facility enhancements have played a huge role in our improved recruiting during Dabo's tenure.

Our facilities were on par with our basketball facilities at the time. Only phase 1 was done in 2008 which was seating and fan experience. We had no indoor practice facility or fancy recruiting buildings. One of Dabo’s first years was an embarrassment of having CJs pro day in the rain.
Your rivals ranking back it up that Dabo sold his vision and got the finances to make the changes he needed to build a winning program. I’m just saying in year 10 you would expect a head coach to improve recruiting and if he needed something to go get it. Maybe there were financial restrictions but basketball has stayed where it always has been the last 10 years with the exception of this 2020 class. A mixture of 3 stars with the occasional 4 star. Been that way under Brownell for his tenure.
