Nov 13, 2020, 9:37 AM

45 years old and I couldn't tell you what my blood type is.

Just me?

Used to be able to call my mom and she would know...

but last time I called she was like, "How the hell should I know, you haven't learned it yet."

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-fordprefect.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know mine because I have given blood

Nov 13, 2020, 9:43 AM

and the Red Cross sent me this pretty credit card to put in my wallet with "B Positive" on it.

That's the only way I know.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, most people probably do not know. Mine is O Neg

Nov 13, 2020, 9:46 AM

I donate every 8 weeks (it was a New Year's resolution from a few years ago that I have kept up.)

Re: No, most people probably do not know. Mine is O Neg

Nov 13, 2020, 10:56 AM

Good for you and mine is O neg. also. I don't give any more after giving 10 gallons. You can tell why they always call people that have O neg. blood because so many people don't know or care what type blood they have.

Re: No, most people probably do not know. Mine is O Neg

Nov 13, 2020, 11:00 AM [ in reply to No, most people probably do not know. Mine is O Neg ]

Have you reach the 5 gallon mark yet? The blood connection gives you a trinket that goes on your key ring or they use to.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not there yet. I gave sporadically until 2018 when I

Nov 13, 2020, 11:38 AM

started giving as much as I can. I not only have O Neg, I have never had CMV which most people have had and it is not an issue, except for newborn babies - so my blood is gold for the NICUs.

Good for you giving it and not selling it.

Nov 13, 2020, 12:24 PM

not a big deal really. I understand some people don't like getting stuck, etc. For some reason it has never bothered me.

Re: Takes like an hour including trips to and from TBC

Nov 13, 2020, 9:01 PM

Me either. When I was younger and gave blood then you could get a easy buzz from just a few drinks after. Don't drink any more. I do miss bourbon and Gin. I drank it with a little ice and water. I would drink beer mostly a lager. When I use to go to Pa. Yuengling was the only beer on tap. It took awhile but it make its was down south. I first saw it in Myrtle Beach then the next thing you knew it was everywhere.

You have never donated blood? I am not sure about a Dumas but very selfish, yes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What kind of cynical logic leap is that?

Nov 13, 2020, 10:10 AM

Of course I have. What does that have to do with not being able to remember it?

I'd say automatically assuming the worst about everyone is a worse character flaw than not donating blood.
