I still probably wouldn't have a clue.
I'd just invent bookface first and become a billionaire.

a lot of money. My Mom was made a partner in an architectural firm starting in the mid 80's in big part because she was a woman. This was in California. I realize you said engineering, but maybe it would have been the same. In California, they had to give so many public projects to women owned companies and there weren't enough women in certain careers.

As a small child my dream job was to be a garbage man.

Because dangling from the back of the truck looked so friggin awesome. To be honest, it still looks fun. I also enjoyed my first job, (that I officially paid income tax on) which was bagging groceries. Both jobs are still dream jobs for me.
Truth be told, I would tell any high school kid to keep your life simple so that you can do something that’s stress free. You can’t necessarily always do something you love to “earn a living”. But you can definitely fund your life in a less stressful way.

I'd drop out of highschool, eff around for a few years marry the wrong girl so I would have my first child then marry a woman much worse than the first so I would have the other six.
Careers and other crap don't matter when you get old. If it really matters to you now then you can change it. It might cost a lot but you have to weigh the price against doing what you want. As far as career; I hung and finished sheetrock before I graduated from Clemson. After a couple years in corporate America I returned to being a sheetrocker.
Being an engineer, doctor or lawyer wouldn't have solved my issue with office people.
