We will force them to throw the ball. he will get a few but not close to 100 unless it's in garbage time.

Depends on how the lines play. My guess is our D-Line too much for their O-Line.

57 last year, healthy the entire game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's a good RB...really good in fact, but...

Nov 7, 2018, 10:07 AM

he's not 100% and even if he was, this will be the best defense he has faced.

He only gained 57 yards last year and he wasn't nursing an ankle injury.

Not sure you are correct. He was the leading

rusher and had twice as many attempts as any of the other BC RBs.

He had 18 carries for 57 yards, 3.2 yards per carry, with the longest carry for 12 yards.

He was splitting carries with Hilliman...

who had 9 carries for 33 yards last year.

Probably will depend on if their QB, Anthony Brown,

Nov 7, 2018, 10:17 AM

hits some passes down the field. If he doesn’t, may be a long day for Dillon.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct

Nov 7, 2018, 11:00 AM

As long as we're in zero coverage their running game will have to be gimmicky to get anything going.

Having said that, nobody likes trick plays more than Addazio

The definition of awesome!

Re: Is AJ Dillon going to "get his yards" on Saturday

Nov 7, 2018, 10:20 AM

Adazzio said on XM this morning that he is not 100%. Doubt he plays a whole lot and if he does he won't be healthy. No one is going to run the ball on this tiger defense. I don't see their QB having a big passing day. I can't see them scoring more than 17.

I’m with you. Until we see him play, assume he’s full steam ahead. .

Re: Is AJ Dillon going to "get his yards" on Saturday

Nov 7, 2018, 10:29 AM

70 yards on 25 carries

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not sure 25 carries is a realistic expectation...

Nov 7, 2018, 10:35 AM

He's still not 100% and may not play very much on Saturday.

He's had over 24 carries in 6 of 8 GP this season.

Nov 7, 2018, 12:50 PM

He's averaging 29 carries in 3 conference games.

Depending on how the Clemson defense schemes against him, he should easily get to 25 carries this week. What better options do they have?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's still nursing an ankle injury...

Nov 7, 2018, 1:55 PM

so it's unclear how much, if any, he will play.

If Tigers jump on BC early, I'd expect Dillon to get a lot

Nov 7, 2018, 10:41 AM

of rest during the game, maybe not even play past mid-2nd qtr. If I'm BC and got down by 14+, I'd rest him for other games. Why risk getting injured more or tweaking worse.

Re: If Tigers jump on BC early, I'd expect Dillon to get a lot

Nov 7, 2018, 10:56 AM

In addition, there back-up running back Lacy looked pretty good against VT last week. Of course, it was VT's defense which hasn't been very good this year. Lacy is a smaller, quicker back than Dillon.

Re: Is AJ Dillon going to "get his yards" on Saturday

Nov 7, 2018, 11:05 AM

Since technically speaking more than 1 yard is yards, Yes he will get his yards. But no more than 65 on 20 carries.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ABSOLUTELY!

Nov 7, 2018, 1:56 PM

He will get his yards, but he will not get anyone else's.

He had about 50 yards last year around 2.5 yards per carry. he will get stuffed again, they play into our defense's strength. run stopping

Our defense did a good job, but Dillon did a good job of getting his last year. He also was splitting carries with Hilliman and I firmly believe Dillon is a runner who gets better with volume. His success rate of 33% might seem low, but I'd imagine it's above-average for RBs we faced.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

On paper, no. Given that:

Nov 7, 2018, 12:56 PM

1) we give up the fewest yards per carry in the country,
2) he is reportedly not 100%,
3) “defense travels”, and
4) we have a better chance to get a lead on them, forcing more passing...

...I’d say “no.”

But then again...sometimes a star loves a platform like this to shine. At home, against the number two team in the country, at night, with Game Day in town, for the Atlantic Division title.

He might not even be in pads on Saturday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My question is...

Nov 7, 2018, 1:59 PM

Which yards are his...and does Clemson get the rest of those yards, or....?

According to Desmond Howard, Dillon is more of a Power runner, and Levy is more of a Finesse runner. Adn Desmond is never wrong. Oh wait...
