Ideas for streaming the game in Europe?

Aug 27, 2014, 4:36 PM

I'm in Italy for the game Saturday and WatchESPN doesn't work over here. Can't get VIPBox or FirstRow links to work either. Any other ideas?

TIA,
A Desperate Tiger

I was in Rome for the 2009 ACC Championship game and we watched the game at a bar filled with Clemson fans from 2-5am local time. One of my better Clemson experiences in my lifetime.

I'll go out on a limb and guess...was this the Highlander Pub? If so, one of my favorite hangouts in Italy...great times to be had there. They always have American Football (as they call it over there) on the multitude of flat screens throughout the pub.

I'm flying out on Sunday but I think I have a solution.

I would try WatchEsPN first, then VIPBox and Firstrow....

Aug 27, 2014, 4:39 PM

if those do not work, I would probably just ask on Tigerboard.

but that's just what I would do

not always the best quality, and use a pop-up blocker...

ESPN blocks outside the US, but you can use a proxy

Aug 27, 2014, 4:50 PM

service to make the interwebs think you are in the US.

I found one once that let you use it for a one-day free trial, I forget the name. It had 'proxy' in there somewhere.

Then use the ESPN app, would be my suggestion.

WHere is you, anyway?

My ISP is amungst those subscribing, but also offers remote

Aug 27, 2014, 4:53 PM

access (outside their isp coverage) as well that requires un/pwd login creds. So espn is turning away customers outside usa? SC here

We need to fix this for him- the alternative is unacceptable

Personally, I would recommend a Slingbox 500. Great video. The SB has to be connected to someone's feed. Maybe if you have relatives here in the USA that can connect one to their tv service, then you could just access it and watch their tv. It's not totally that simple, as the sb500 can change their channels, so it would need to be connected to a separate tv that they might not be using. Use HDMI cables if possible - or Component cables otherwise.

Anyway - good luck.

slingbox does work great! i used it in Germany to watch...

Aug 27, 2014, 5:58 PM

you just need a buddy with it & then you sign into their account & can watch (as long as not too many others are using it).

i haven't used my buddy's account in like 7 years though, so can't help ya there.
maybe request someone with a slingbox for help (facebook, here, social media outles...).

Is it for single view only or can two people watch at the same time

Re: I can help ya, got a slingbox I won't be using***

Aug 27, 2014, 9:07 PM

Most of the Slingboxes only work with ONE at a time. I think (emphasize think) that the sb500 also allows a guest, but I don't know how that works.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thanks Tigerfan. I think I've got a working solution with a VPN network and a WarchESPN account so if one of the others that requested the Slingbox details needs them you could help them out. I greatly appreciate all the offers of help.

Try here http://forum.wiziwig.eu/
or purchase a VPN connection so that it looks as if your internet connection is based in another country. I use these guys below and you can purchase in blocks of 4 -20 days @ $0.75 a day.

I'll be in Venice, been there a couple of times, don't remember any "sports bars" that don't show soccer (sorry sckrcrazy). We get there tomorrow, I'll look around.
