No. Of course he didn't, and if that's the standard being used, then conviction/acquittal is a no-brainer. That's not the question though. The question is "Why did people feel the need to plan an attack on the Capitol to overturn the election?"
Do you think it would have happened if Trump hadn't spent 2 entire months, from Nov. 4th to Jan. 5th, convincing people that the election was stolen, with no proof whatsoever? This is a pretty straightforward, yes/no question. Would it have happened, if Trump HADN'T beaten that drum for 2 months?

Now, let me bold here so you know I'm trying to be fair. Trump did say "peacefully" in another statement. But the point is that he's already gotten them there and has been using confrontational language all the way leading up to the riot following Nov. 3

You've an angry fired up mob that believes an election has been stolen. Trump and his people stoked those fires for months and encouraged this gathering. Then, once there, they were further urged with fiery rhetoric.
What's being left out is this: If Trump had simply conceded and admitted he lost--like every ####### losing president before him--none of this ever happens. At all.

Bruh, due process has nothing to do with it. Constitutional due process doesn't apply in impeachment trials. Isn't Trump still getting lawyers to defend him? Didn't he have the opportunity to testify?
Trump deserves to be punished for what happened. I'm still failing to see why any of you are still cheering him on or defending him at this point. He should have 0.0 allies anywhere in this nation after all of his actions post-Nov. 3.

But as others have pointed out and the Republicans have made clear, there was no way Trump was going to be convicted so the point of the impeachment was to 1.) Hold Trump responsible for his actions no matter the result as is the correct procedure and 2.) Chain the Republicans to Trump's actions for the historical record.
History is not going to be kind to Trump and this era of the Republican Party.
