I will never forget the first time I saw Keith Adams. It was

in a scrimmage in Death Valley before the start of the season...back when you could actually get in a practice...Anyway, my buddy who was a high school coach for 45 years was standing beside me and I said,"Man that 27 is all over the field",and he said,"You got that right, who is he?". It didn't take long for him to become a household name in Tigertown.

Anthony Simmons was a favorite of mine. Both ...

single tackle. He was so quick and had such a nose for the ball. Practically unblockable. I think he was the best LB Clemson ever had.

best clemson linebackers is a great discussion.......

Oct 28, 2020, 10:58 AM

my vote goes like this:

1. Ed McDaniel
2. Levon Kirkland
3. Anthony Simmons
4. John Johnson
5. Wayne Simmons
6. Jeff Davis
7. Keith Adams

All of those guys were great. It's very difficult to rank legends.

Bubba Brown was probably right behind that list.

Seems like Isaiah Simmons should be there somewhere

although not a prototypical LB. I’d put him 4-5 on that list.

Ah, Keith Adams, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while. That dude was the Mike Tyson of Clemson football. I can vividly remember him, as if it were yesterday, pulling his SUV up onto the sidewalk by Schilleter Dining Hall, parking it, and just getting out for food like it was no big deal. Some parking authority guy came over and starting writing up a ticket... Keith casually walked over to him, pulls a “do you know who I am?”, and the guy left without incident or ticket given. The dude just sat there with some other athletes, they laughed and enjoyed their food.

Different era.

I watched Tree Rollins get out of a two tone beige customized Monte Carlo with a rotating driver's seat...Money grew on the tree.

Walking across Ft. Hill from Holmes toward the Library for whatever class was that morning. I see a huge shape looming in the distance on the same walking path as me, coming toward me. Couple seconds later I'm stepping off the sidewalk as a wall of man takes up the entire sidewalk. He kinda gave me a half grin and I just laughed.
