I just bought a vehicle on line.

Feb 26, 2021, 10:24 AM

It took about 7 minutes total.

Why do car dealers exist again?

so you can browse in person***

Bing?

Well, there are 3 I think

Feb 26, 2021, 10:39 AM

Bing, Apple, and Google. Bing actually outperforms the others in some situations.

Some Examples:

1) My house
2) Erbil, Iraq

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How does Bing outperform any search engine?

Feb 26, 2021, 12:12 PM

Google is the best for sure.

We was talking street view. Also Bing knows my address

Google knows where you are right now.

I don't have it yet.

Feb 26, 2021, 10:43 AM [ in reply to Pics?*** ]

It's in Kernersville, NC. They'll be shipping it down next week sometime.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You bought it without any pictures of it?

Feb 26, 2021, 10:44 AM

Interesting.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Because they have a union.

Feb 26, 2021, 10:28 AM

At least that's the case in NJ. There are all kinds of rules designed to keep the dealership structure in place. This was a big issue when Tesla was trying to do their own thing and competing dealerships weren't having it.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where did you buy it? Also, this is a good question and

Feb 26, 2021, 10:28 AM

in reality they should be eliminated by military force.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To let you test drive it. Sit in it.

Feb 26, 2021, 10:29 AM

Smell the rotten shrimp smell that's permanently in the upholstery. To let you inspect the engine and see the rat-chewed wires underneath. To let you see inspect the thing before dropping thousands of dollars on it.

It's old fashioned, but some people still insist on kicking the tires.

Oh, and to sell you a ripoff warranty, and to rip you off on servicing the vehicle and repairs.

That's about all the reasons I can think of.

Carvana gives you seven days to test.

Feb 26, 2021, 1:15 PM [ in reply to Yes, probably have to pay shipping or transaction fee*** ]

7.

Don't like it? Call 'em up and send it back without losing a penny. Had a coworker that bought one, had issues and sent it back, got another vehicle and didn't like it, and ended up sending it back too. Didn't cost anything, they brought it and picked it up. She ended up finding something she liked locally.

Another friend bought one from Carvana, didn't like and had them bring another. He still drives it today. In the early days, Carvana had unbeatable pricing but since I've toyed with getting something else in the past year, their prices seem a little less competitive, I'm finding.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 26, 2021, 1:49 PM

that, usually about $600? But they have lots of cars with "free" shipping.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe so.

Feb 26, 2021, 1:58 PM

Don't think it was the case when I bought, but even brick and mortar dealer networks and Carmax now have a similar thing on their websites. If the car is in California, I guess you pay to ship.
