I say let's shut down the election this year and just let

Mar 12, 2020, 12:18 AM

Trump continue as POTUS. Then all you whiny liberal snowflake ####### will really give us some entertainment for the next four years. The media will forget about this BS virus and everything would return to normal. You know the liberals and the media trying everyday of their lives to get Trump out of of office instead of doing their jobs for the people that elected them. I am so done with this corona virus bs that the media has driven out of control. There is nothing that anyone can do except let it run it's course and move on from there. You can shut the whole world down but this virus will still do what it is going to do. Carry on wringing your hands and gnashing your teeth because I got more important things to worry about than some silly virus that is less potent than the flu. Carry on....

Mar 12, 2020, 1:37 AM

Hahaha I was thumbed down for agreeing hahahaha. Man people sure do get worked up over a new version of the flu. If they actually did a little research outside of watching the news they would find out the statistics that are being displayed by the news stations are skewed to make....wait for it.....A GOOD STORY hahaha. When you exclude the elderly or the people with underlying sicknesses the death rate drops to 1/2 of 1%. That doesn't seem that deadly anymore does it. But let's not look at facts let's run around screaming in terror for a couple months until it all goes away.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ah yes when you exclude “old people”

Mar 12, 2020, 3:26 AM

And people with underlying health issues (which could be something as simple as high blood pressure), it’s basically only 5 times as deadly as the regular flu instead of 30 times as deadly!

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

Seriously???

Mar 12, 2020, 2:04 AM

It truly saddens me that anyone, let alone anyone who espouses the virtues of a Clemson Man, would rant about media bias as the reason why people are contracting a virus that does not currently have an antidote, and has proven to be deadly. The media didn't give the virus to the elderly lady in Kershaw or the DHEC worker in Charleston. The media did not cause the death of the 38 US citizens that have lost their lives up to this point. No matter who is in office as president, that virus won't chose to infect or avoid anyone no matter their political leanings, cultural or economic background, or geographic region. Hopefully, those charged with finding a remedy will do their job to the best of their abilities and prevent the continued spread. But it will have nothing to do with how it's reported. I pray that this does not touch you or anyone that you love or care for, all I know is that this is all too familiar to me because I lost someone a little less than a month ago to an operating room infection that was contracted during a procedure that is as routine as a teeth cleaning....
I thought I was coming here tonight to take my mind away from a concern related to this pandemic, after praying that the best outcome from a test will be a negative report... but just wow... not words of prayer or encouragement, as I would expect from someone on the "right", but words of vitriol and blame of an institution that's not perfect but does provide information so that we all can look deeper into that information's importance and make our own decisions about how it applies to us as individuals; taking it in as wheat or blowing it off as chafe...
Be blessed in all of your comings and goings, and always covered in divine health... ~Shalom

Re: Seriously???

Mar 12, 2020, 2:22 AM

Myself or the original poster said that the virus was being spread by the media, but the media is misleading the actual facts. If you don't believe that the media will stretch the truth to make a story more attention grabbing you are fooling yourself. And that is any news channel, CNN, MSNBC, FOX. You name it they want the story first and they will do whatever it takes to get the best ratings they can. When the news became more about ratings than the actual news, that's when the truth becomes stretched. Not trying to start arguments and a thumbs down war with anyone just trying to have a debate.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there's no debate...

Mar 12, 2020, 2:39 AM

more people are getting sick and people have died, those are facts with no relation to media coverage. if one person dies, that's one too many. media coverage had nothing to do with Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson now having the virus... all I'm saying is, this is serious, and I don't wish that anybody else has to learn this through experience...

Re: there's no debate...

Mar 12, 2020, 2:58 AM

There is obviously a debate, is one person that gets the flu and die one to many? Cause it happens year in and year out. And kills a very large amount of people. But there is almost zero media coverage on it. It's because it's common. This new virus is not common and it's causing concern and panic. This is one of those things that comes and goes, come summer time this will die out and next winter guess what, it will make a come back. We will wait till a vaccine is created to save us but the flu has a vaccine and it doesn't stop the elderly with weak immune systems or sick people from dying from the flu. I'm all for having nobody die but this is something no one can fully control.

The media breathlessly reporting that TOM HANKS!!! has it. LOL. How is that any different than Myron Dorferdingle getting it?

OK then why is there no mention when people die from the flu but it blows up the world when it is the corona virus. Not saying it is not deadly as any illness is but it is just ridiculous what is being done out of fear that is created by the media shoving it down our throats.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there are a lot of incompetent people in this world

Mar 12, 2020, 10:05 PM [ in reply to Seriously??? ]

that don't know how to think beyond self. We have the opportunity to stop what happened in other countries from happening here. But yet we have to blame what we don't comprehend. Science has completely proven it. Hoping stupid people don't have someone affected by the virus. I hope its not your parents.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

EXACTLY... declare state of emergency and postpone election

I didn’t vote for Hillary or Trump last time. Went 3rd party. But after watching the sheer disdain of the Trump haters for 3+ years, I feel compelled to have his back this time around. I consider it my civic duty to give all the crazies the middle finger.

This makes a good point about hospital capacity. If they are full of coronavirus victims, they may not have room for your younger, healthy ### if you get in a wreck.

Well said!!
