I disagree completely. I'm a Clemson fan and graduate, and it's called being a fan of the state. I like it when both teams are good and the game actually matters. Also, a good Gamecock team will ensure Clemson doesn't get complacent.

The "fan of the state" argument is ridiculous. Do NC State fans cheer for UNC, Duke, and Wake because they're all from NC? What about UF fans and FSU or Miami? Alabama and Auburn?
IMO, if you cheer for both teams, you're not a fan of either one.

People that say this are also the type of people that will say they've never had an argument with their spouse. Whatever - I'm okay with what you do, but that just means you're an extraordinarily bland individual and aren't actually in love with your spouse. There's nothing wrong with arguments - if you're passionate about something, it's okay to express your feelings and no two people are going to agree with every single thing. If you do, someone is lying.
Same thing with college football. No way you can pull for both - if you do, then you're not really a fan of either.
