Hey, guys. Need your help if you're a home repair expert or contractor cause I'm not.

It's about 12 degrees here right now. Last night I left the garden hose trickling outside on the sidewalk, and this morning there is a bunch of ice on the sidewalk and the garden hose is really solid and water won't come out.

My wife swears that there was no ice there yesterday and that water came out of the hose when she last used it in September.

What gives? Thought I'd ask you guys before I hire an excavator to dig up my sidewalk and find the magic spring that is leaking all over my sidewalk and ruining my plumbing. Thnx.

I feel like this isn't legal for you to do it to yourself.***

You know that little note on the outdoor faucet that says

Feb 16, 2021, 5:00 PM

"Remove hose from faucet to prevent pipes from bursting"?

They weren't joking about that part.

Please forgive me, @IneligibleUser

LOL, good one. I appreciate your advice but I think I'll

Feb 16, 2021, 5:03 PM

take it up to tractor supply and have them test the hose for me to determine if it's defective.

I only got it 5 months ago so it should be under warranty.

I'd give it a few pass overs with

Feb 16, 2021, 5:02 PM

a flamethrower. Should melt the ice lickity split and allow you to keep dripping through ice-maggedon.

If that fails, then the excavator route is your only option.

wait til Spring

then you'll be able to see what's up when the big sink hole shows up.

cut everything off and go see if your water meter is running

Feb 16, 2021, 5:15 PM

that's where I'd start.

remove garden hoses from all hose bibs if you think it

Feb 16, 2021, 5:47 PM

might freeze. When it thaws you will be replacing the hose bib even if it is a non freezing bib. The hose might make it of the ends dont freeze.

I'm guessing that you knew that. Some of the millennials in here have no clue how to take care of themselves though.
