Spent many Sunday after church there in the early 80’s. Never had seen that type of steakhouse before. Will miss it.

Western sizzler is closing because the food is trash.
Chain steakhouses have all gone downhill over the last 15 years or so. Even outback.

...I remember Pixie and Bills, but does anyone remember the "Ponderosa" in Easley (sorry, no pigs), or the Peddler in Anderson? I'm going back like 45 yrs. ago.... good stuff in the day, and it sure beat Harcombe Commons in the tin cans.

I could make a more tender and better tasting steak at home by running over it with my car and cooking it in the microwave.

A long time ago, when I was in the Army reserve unit in Clemson, we would eat there for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays. That was my first exposure to bubble guts on a routine basis. I am appreciative to WS for strengthening my gastrointestinal track. That kind of resiliency is priceless!

I'm confused... did the Western Sizzling move at some point?

I just googled it and it's not where I remember it in the 70s. It was just past the old Winn Dixie store, on the right side of Hwy 123 after you cross College Ave...

There's only one Quincy's left and it's in Florence SC. Haven't been in a while and the reviews run hot and cold. We would get the rolls there and if they were good, we would order two dozen to take home and freeze. They were even awesome reheated. Last couple of times we went, they weren't so great so we didn't bring home any. If I'm ever near Florence again I might stop by.

Golden Corral is nothing but a country buffet imo. Doesn't remind at all of those 70's cafeteria style steakhouses like Western, Bonanza that have faded over time. They ruined Ryan's and Quincy's too when they took away the entrees and went all buffet.
