Todd Ellis is a Gamecock Legend

Mar 12, 2018, 9:14 AM

You truly couldn't make this stuff up if you tried. Just look at those stats boys.

My first thought "a 63 to 38 TD to INT ratio isnt bad"...

My second thought "Oh wait that is reversed holy hell."

Legend or not, Clemson wanted him. As I understand it from people "in the know", Danny Ford recruited him hard.

At Clemson and under the right coaching, he might have been good. Key word is "might". Instead, he never will know.

Yep.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wonder why?

Mar 12, 2018, 9:29 AM [ in reply to Re: Todd Ellis is a Gamecock Legend ]

Ford wanted option style, dual-threat quarterbacks and Ellis was slow as Christmas and pro-style.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope. Ellis was slow and pro style. Clemson ran the Option***

Clemson did recruit Ellis hard. At the time we were trying to move to a more pro-style offense with Randy Anderson. Ellis didn't sign with Clemson because we had signed Rodney Williams the year before, who was one of the top-ranked QBs in the country

He would have had splinters in his butt if he was competing against "Rotney"...

Danny thought Anderson was going to be

The man to turn us into a more pro style offense no question but it just never worked as rushing the ball. Plus I think we lost a highly touted receiver due to a bad car accident but not sure if that happened during the Anderson project. Was the receiver's name Montgomery? Been a while.

marvin Montgomery , died in tragic car accident , i think during august camp ?

Very highly rated athlete who unfortunately, never got...

to show it at Clemson. Tragic.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes we did...

Mar 12, 2018, 12:18 PM [ in reply to Re: Todd Ellis is a Gamecock Legend ]

but Ellis was afraid of competition at the QB position since Clemson had already signed Rodney Williams so he opted to play for the University of Second Choice instead.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

His 8,000 yards must have included the yardage his interceptions were returned. If it hadn't been for Sterling Sharpe and Ryan Bethea, his completion rate would have been about 25% .... if that high!

I'm going to print that and have him sign it.***

So at that point of his career...

Mar 12, 2018, 8:54 PM

...was he cycling in or cycling out?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh right, nothing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ha! Ranks No. 3 all time NCAA interceptions...
