HEISMAN VOTER CHANGES...

Dec 12, 2016, 1:07 PM

Over time, some things need to be changed and improved upon. The process for voting the Heisman is most definitely one of them. Anyone who watched the media try and manipulate the Presidential elections this year, or watched ESPN try and control the outcome of so many different aspects of sports, then you understand the need to take the media out of the equation.

Why not have the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, as well as the previous Heisman winners, be the ones who select the candidates and winner? You could add all Division One head coaches to that list too. I think that would be a much more objective group to decide the winner.

What if this new group would have chosen Lamar Jackson?

Who knows? Maybe they would have selected Bentley, since he had a higher completion percentage that Jackson!

Then we have to move on and come up with with a method and/or metric that would have given TNet the outcome many thought was justified.

And in the future, if that method fails us then we will need to find another.

Basically follow the prescription associated with gerrymandering

I wrote the committee today with some of the same suggestions. I believe only the Committee should vote based on stats and character. The media is biased toward a particular conference or school and so are some of the players. George Rogers recently stated he would never vote for a Clemson player.

That's because he's still butt hurt about not scoring against Clemson. Seems to me every time he got close to the goal line he fell down and started to snort it. Go Tigers.

The media choose the Heisman...

Dec 12, 2016, 1:39 PM

There's nothing stopping the CFP, or a group of coaches, or players, or whatever, from giving an award, if they are so inclined.

If people like it, maybe it would become more prestigious over time than the Heisman.

I dunno really how to express what I'm saying...you are saying take the media out of what has always been an award chosen by the media. That's the whole point of the award...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep

Dec 12, 2016, 1:46 PM

It's an opinion. Or more accurately, it's a consensus of opinions.

We may disagree with it's outcome, and we may think that the criteria is nebulous at best and poorly applied in this case, but it's an award based on the opinion of the media (and a smaller group of voters who have previously won the award).

On another note, has the Ole Ball Coach said who he voted for? That would be interesting.

That just it. The media has lost its integrity for the most part. Let The Committee decide.

Russians hacked the Heisman vote.

Dec 12, 2016, 8:14 PM

at least that's what I heard on MSNBC.
