Greenville area teen summer coding classes

Jun 5, 2019, 9:56 AM

Any of you know of any coding classes or camps or something for teens in the upstate? My son is 14 and big into coding, particularly Python, but the camps are all for middle school and down (he's going in to 9th grade) and the "real classes" are more adult/professional oriented and cost $1000+. Just looking for something he can do this summer to get some formal experience. We could hit anywhere in Greenville Co or maybe even W Spartanburg Co.

He's at that nowhere age where he's too young to work but too old for the camps! Any help is appreciated!

We used to do Coder School. There is also Code Ninja now. They usually have python and other types of coding classes during the summer. There is a non-profit in my area that does recycling of computers and has coding classes there. So you could try somewhere like that. Also google code classes-maybe you did that? I think that's how I found all the ones we used.

You could also try Greenville Tech maybe? Google robotics too. sometimes that turns up coder schools.

Clemson has had coding camps for kids, are they just for middle school? Several years ago Furman was offering coding camps but haven't looked in awhile. Also, go on Facebook to the upstate Home schooling group. Those folks know everything available about classes, private lessons, camps etc and it's a great place to ask for suggestions!!
9th grade is such a crucial year. Wish I could have sent mine to a desert island!
