Shaq Smith pleased with his defense following spring practice

Dabo Swinney and Brent Venables both say that the best teams they’ve played for or coached were player-led, with last season’s National Championship team a prime example. Leaders like Clelin Ferrell, Austin Bryant, Kendall Joseph, and Christian Wilkins made an impact both on and off the field. Full Story »

Agree! I think our Linebackers will be the strength of this defense. Shaq Smith and Isiah Simmons will be All ACC and maybe even on some All American lists.

Same here. I really hope we can keep him around for 2 more years but if he dominates this year I could see him leaving for the NFL.

Shaq to the NFL in the first 4 rounds may happen, but doesn't he seem like that's a stretch from what he has done so far? It seems like he will definitely be back for another year after this.

This guy has patiently waited his turn.

There are probably some people who have forgotten about him or written him off but my gut feeling about him is that he will explode this year. Some guys just take longer to get the scheme down or sometimes they’re just playing behind a another guy that can just flat out play ball. I think his patience and hard work pay off in a big way this year.

He also changed positions. Don’t forget that part. He was strictly a defensive end in HS. Never played a down at LB. So he’s had to learn how to play LB in college. That’s a big change.

Shaq or Isaiah will be the leading tackler for us this year. Both are going to have draft worthy years. I believe they're as talented if not more talented than any LB B.V. has had. And I hope Skalski is the other LB because my gut is telling me that he's going to be head hunter.
Go Tigers!!

Think it will be a breakout year for both Shaq and Skalski. !!

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

Go Shaq!

I've been looking forward to seeing what Shaq is able to do. What a huge asset to the team. Can't wait to see him take the reins this year.
