Glad for Chad Fairey becoming a big hitter in May

May 11, 2019, 6:10 PM

All Tiger baseball fans struggled along with Chad Fairey and his 0.000 batting average from February 14 until May 4.
Chad's hitting in the last week has been a bright spot. Last night, he hit a homerun late in the game for our only score.
Today, he had two big hits in the Tigers win at NC State.

I'm sure his family is even more proud. Chad's grandfather, Jim Fairey has to be extra proud as his grandson is proving that he has the genes to hit a baseball just like grand dad. I still have a couple of baseball cards from his days as a Dodger and Expo. Jim has lived in Clemson for many years since his retirement and certainly enjoys watching his grandson play.

Right there with you brother. Monte still talks about what a special fall he had. Remember at the first of the year, he had quite a few hard hit balls but they were all right at someone. Really hoping he continues to get the work.

Thanks for posting that too!!!!

If the Jim Fairy mentioned is from Orangeburg, I played against him in Little League and Pony League baseball in the '50s. This Jim Fairy was a very good CF and all-round good guy.

Yes, same one but it’s Jim Fairey.

or two.

I roomed with Jim's son and Chad's uncle, Burke Fairey

Burke and I played ball together, and I'm still close to the family. Burke and I play golf together a lot, and Jim joins us every now and then. Great family. Chad's dad Clint was a great player at Western Carolina under Jack Leggett.
