Lotta bad news there. Geez. That really sucks about Kearse and Alexander. How long does it usually take to recover from a separated shoulder?

Depends on how severe

Aug 17, 2013, 1:02 PM

if it's a regular one then he should rest it for a few days and he should be alright. As long as their aren't complications he should be good to go in a week or so I believe

Hopefully his is a mild separation. Mine took several weeks before I could even lift my arm. Granted, a LOT has changed in treatment methods over the past 30+ years. A separated shoulder is just what the name implies ... the tissue holding the bones together is torn and they have become "separated".

Hopefully they are just sprained

Aug 17, 2013, 1:13 PM

both sprains and tears are considered seperated.

I suppose if by sprain, we mean the tissue is grossly over-stretched, I could see it being termed "separated".

I too hope for minimal damage/ quick recovery no matter what they call it.

Kearse will be OK

Aug 17, 2013, 1:12 PM [ in reply to Re: Football Update: Quick notes from Saturday's scrimmage ]

I actually played safety in highschool and separated my shoulder during a game. I was back by thursday at full speed but my shoulder bothered me for the rest of the season. I think Kearse will be fine though cause I had a highschool training staff, not college. He should def be 100% or close to it by gametime.

Both we and uGAY want this game.

Everybody knows it gonna be a knockdown dragout kind of affair.

anytime you amp up the physical nature of camp and have scrimmages, you will see an increase in injuries. dabo and staff are preparing us for a very physical game with Georgia. getting in shape is important because it takes a lot for ol and dl to run 100 plays in a game. injuries are just part of the game.
