It's an interesting loophole. They redid the apartments for student athletes this summer and they are really nice. Any student CAN register for the housing. But athletes get first day registration. So it's still all good with the ncaa. Interestingly I was randomly placed in the building next to his (building 12). Should be fun.

Not sure. I've only seen whatever is there now.

Swimanddive. Did you live in buildings 1-10 or 11-20. The former is lightsey 1, a few years older than the latter, lightsey 2 where the players stay and where I mentioned I am living.

Paper thin metal walls with the phone hanging on the wall by the door. One well placed foot to the wall in the hallway would send the receiver for the phone flying across the room! Not that I ever did anything like that. Leather furniture. Heck our chairs were METAL.

2 year Johnstone 3F veteran - no longer standing as they tore it down as part of the core campus project. I remember climbing out the window and sitting on the concrete ledge eating an ice cream cone from Harcomb - everyone did it back in the day. Sometimes we would chunk the ice cream cone at the "ticket witch" who was always hiding out looking for parked cars under our section of Johnstone.
Those were the days....

F317 here. I took the metal F4 door after they tore it down

We scaled the fence and rummaged through the rubble until we found it. That thing must weigh close to 200 pounds.

And yes, I still consider myself young.

Remember moving into D4 August 68, must've been 90 degrees

We did get into New A the next year, they had air. Then on to brand new Lever the next year. We were in high cotton then. I also remember that my room, board and tuition for my entire freshman year was $1130, about $5000 total for my four years.

Memories...
D5, Right over the courtyard access, with dump trucks going in and out, rumbling the entire structure every time one passed. (Demolition, then building the Student Union).
Oh, and the phone rings, and 4 rooms answer their phone...acoustical diaphragm metal walls.
The next year..
F4, adjacent to the convenience of the stairwell, but very noisy. Still metal walls...
then
E3 (YES! Concrete Walls) LOL. convenience...right out the door to dining and post office.
Then
I "moved on up.. to the west side" "High" society... :)
GO TIGERS!!!

Lightsey has changed considerably in 4 years....

Jul 29, 2015, 9:31 AM

My apt 8 3B was a dump, but I made some great memories there.

Lightsey for Lyfe!

And all this time I've been correcting people when they pronounce his name is Artavius.

I thought that was funny too. Everybody wanted to call Martavis, Mar ta vee us. and Now Artavis actually is pronounced that way.

It was nice 20 years ago when I was there, but it was a 4-person apartment and the kitchen had basic appliances. The bedrooms had bunk beds, 2 desks, and 2 dressers. The shower was just a tub/shower. We had to provide the shower curtain and everything else in the place. I'll never forget that place, though. A lot of memories. Placing our couch on the balcony... Hibachi grilling on the balcony... Roommate leaving his lotion, Kleenex box, and tapes on top of the TV...

I lived in Lightsey last year... the appliances were probably 20 years old. And that shiny glass shower, ours was nothing like that. O well, you gotta please the recruits.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Seems a little ridiculous to me....

Jul 29, 2015, 12:36 PM

they wouldn't renovate the entire complex because it is outdated and old, but they would renovate "player's only" apartments... I call B.S.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

let me know when you can fill an 85,000 person stadium

and sign millions of dollars tv contracts.

This is pennies to what they actually deserve.

Lightsey 2 is the newest housing on campus minus Stadium Suites. You may be thinking of Lightsey 1, which was built in the early 90s. Either way, both of them are nicer than any of the dorms.

He said "ARTAYVEEUS"?

Not Artayvis.

Did anyone else hear the same?

When did Lightsey get a makeover?

Jul 29, 2015, 6:29 PM

I lived there in fall 2011-spring 2012 and it didn't look nearly as good.

I agree. Wish it looked like this one I was an athlete there...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Is that seminole red?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The students in the bridge program have really nice apartments

Jul 29, 2015, 9:08 PM

The apartments in high point. They should put apartments like that in Clemson. They are top notch apartments, recruits would love it. These apartments that Artavis is living in are nice also but seem a little out dated.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They should check back with him in 2019

Jul 30, 2015, 3:50 PM

then!

See wazzzup!
