why talk about him at all? tell them you'll talk about players presently on the team and move on

Because the media will interpret it as something negative and write it in a way that would make us sound like a bitter boyfriend jealous of the ex girlfriend success with the new man. I think Dabo responded well.

As I stated Sat night, I was wishing an Ex-Clemson Student/Athlete the very best..

Sep 21, 2015, 12:20 PM

And have same thoughts towards Chad Kelly as Coach Swinney dies.

Nuff said, move ??on and G0 ??Tigers!

Hopefully it will be a long time before you have the same

thoughts for Chad Kelley. At least for Coach Swinney's sake.

Exactly. Only people who are insecure spite others

Dabo responded like he did because he has class, not like that coach at Richland Avenue Trade School.

74Tiger, I whole heartedly agree with your sentiment the media should just talk and ask questions about Clemson players only, and not on how we feel about some former 3rd string ex QB who failed here. My fear is that if Dabo took your approach, the media would interpret it as a negative and this would plant the seed of more stories in the future of what happened between Chad Kelly and our program. And especially if he becomes more successful they will want more details of his past. Given the public likes the rags to to riches story, the media might build him up and Clemson might end of on the negative side of the narrative. By responding positively, Swinney negates any future stories of lingering hurt feelings and effectively ends our story with him.

Why does it hurt so many Tiger fans' feelings to acknowledge that Chad Kelly has done well on the field and that there is hope that he grows up, matures, and will be successful in all phases of life? Why is that a big deal and how in the world does that make someone less of a Clemson fan?

Classy response Dabo!

Sep 21, 2015, 12:00 PM

Dabo is a leader of men. There is no further need to admonish this man. Wish him the best and move on.

This whole thing worked out for the best;
-Chad successful in college football.
-Dabo handled all in a very classy manner.
-No chance that Chad will be a problem for us any more.

Perfect!

I have this feeling that we might eventually face Chad Kelly and Ole Miss in a bowl or CFP game somewhere down the line.

Wow who cares what the loser chicken hawks on tigernet

Sep 21, 2015, 8:14 PM

call you for your opinion! Ha ha sad

My opinion .... Kelly always had talent but his me me me attitude that started even before he set foot on campus eventually left Dabo with no choice but to let him go. Whether he changed his tune or his current team/coaches can deal with his attitude he obviously has a good thing going and it reflects well on the Clemson program that he got his start here.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Need to see how good Alabama actually is before getting too

Sep 22, 2015, 6:13 PM [ in reply to Ha... the question no one wants to answer ]

hyped about Kelly's performance the other night.

He had a good game, but in all honesty, Ole Miss had some incredibly lucky breaks and Bama just might not be "all that" this season.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watson

Sep 21, 2015, 8:09 PM [ in reply to Who is the better QB right now?*** ]

But I don't know how anyone could really tell 3 weeks into the season. Ole miss has a better O line and without Mike Williams, arguably better WR. How could you compare the two given the many variables involved. I will take Watsons attitude and poise all day long over Kelly. Watson certainly a better ambassador for Clemson

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Um... Watson.

Sep 21, 2015, 8:23 PM [ in reply to Who is the better QB right now?*** ]

Way better upside than Kelly. There's little chance he would've kept Watson off the field by now. Kelly's a great talent, but Watson is a rare talent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watson!!

Sep 21, 2015, 10:13 PM [ in reply to Who is the better QB right now?*** ]

Kelly benefited from 5 'bama turnovers and the golden horse-shoe that fell from heaven into his back pocket on that helmet bounce, 8 ball in the corner pocket house call pass.

There still a LOT of season left and a LOT of hungry SEC West defenses chomping at the bit to take a chunk out of Swag.

Let's see how he holds up shall we....

to be as genuine as all of Coach Swinney's words. Even more reason for us to be proud of the type of man we have as a coach.

Whether Swag thanks Dabo or not, Dabo's been the best coach he'll ever have.

I don't think the boy's ever been told, "NO." Now he has, and hopefully he'll fly straight and have a great life.
