Easy BCS playoff solutions

May 2, 2012, 12:00 PM

Option one

An eight team playoff with the conference champions from the 6 automatic qualifiers, plus the addition of two at large teams. This would mean that conference affiliation would have nothing to do with the opportunity. The at large teams would cover teams from non automatic qualifiers or an exceptional team from a bcs conference. Conference championship games would basically increase it to a sixteen team playoff without adding more post season games.

Option two

A 6 team playoff with the champions from the pac 12, big 10, big 12, and sec, plus two at large. The two highest ranked would get a first round bye. This probably makes the most sense since the big east and acc both suck out loud in football, but it would pretty much leave clemson out in the cold.

With the plus one system Clemson needs to get out of the acc as fast as possible. Preferably to the sec because it just makes sense geographically.
