could take off President's day or MLK day, but only one.
On MLK day the office looked like the crowd at a Radiohead concert, and on Presidents Day it looked like the audience for a Madea movie.
I don't think anyone was making a political or social statement, just how it always worked out.

had Good Friday off also, anyway boss wanted to save some money and took all 3 away, I left a note in the suggestion box asking if they hated black people, we got MLK holiday reinstated

Old company use to do Presidents Day. Then the mob started pressuring for MLK day so we had our choice for a few years. Then MLK and no President's Day. I guess the mob won.
New company does MLK.

the kids school is closed. the NY offices for my company are

closed, so I also took the day off.
Basically , if another US office takes a holiday, I"m going to take it as a float. So NY takes MLK, Pres's day and Veteran's Day. GVL does not, but most take it as a float since schools are usually closed and the meetings/phone calls are held in check.

My company never offered it as a holiday. It day became significant to me when I started skiing in Lake Tahoe. Presidents Day out there is like Labor Day in Myrtle Beach. It signifies the "end of the tourist season" and the prices go down. Always planned our trips for the week after Presidents Day.

My company works pres day and mlk but we have 2 floating

holdiays that we pick ahead of time. We use them to make Christmas, New Years or 4th of July into 4 day weekends. It almost always works out.

MLK, Presidents’ Day...and all the normal days...usually 8 total holiday days per year.
My wife reminds me all the time how I don’t really work in the real world. Didn’t realize until recently there are still companies that make people use their personal/vacation days if they get sick. So, I’m thankful/lucky to have what I do.
