Dabo's handling of Watkins = Perfect

He has set a standard for behavior of a Clemson Tiger Football player and regardless of how talented you are, you have to follow the rules.

If he had done anything less he would be compared to the ruhtard HC in the armpit of SC. It would also spread the idea through the team of special treatment for the higher caliber players.

AMEN Dabo for letting them all know they are Clemson Tigers and equal pieces of the program.

Kills me for him to miss such a big game. It is the right thing to do though. I thought perhaps to suspend him for a couple of half games. Again though as much as I hate Sammy not playing-not having that chance to explode into the 2012 season-ALL OVER Auburn it is a solid decision to hold him out. :(

Not only is the Watkins discipline correct from a coaching standpoint, it is also a smart move for recruiting and the image of Clemson.

With or without discipline, Sammy would be the story of the game when we play Auburn. That story could be either of the following:

1 - That Clemson is no different from any other school. We have stars that get special treatment. Blah blah blah.

2 - That Clemson is a place where winning is important, but that it's not the only thing. Dabo talks a straight program and now we see he's serious about it. Feel-good stories abound...

I believe the second story is what we will hear, and it WILL be used in recruiting efforts to remind parents that we are more concerned about growing your boys into men than just using them as a piece of meat to get a "W".

I believe that we can do things the right way AND win.
