Dabo even having to ask Citadel

Sep 21, 2020, 11:14 AM

If they want a mercy rule is the reason these types of games shouldn’t be played in the first place

I gotta be honest, I started looking for other more competitive games to watch on TV ... in the 2nd quarter

Dabo DID NOT ASK. The Game Officials went to

Dabo with the idea and then the Game officials went to Brent Thompson (Citadel HC).

I agree, but I really like two things about these games.

1. We support the in-State small schools
2. Furman is our oldest rival and the Citadel is a pretty old rival too. Would hate to no longer play them.

And it’s not like the little guys can’t beat the P5. (Lookin’ at you, coots)

Maybe the change would be to rotate FCS and G5 each year so there is only one of these games out of 12. Playing Akron, Kent State, Troy etc. is far less appealing to me than Furman or the Citadel.

We struggled to find ANY out of conference game this year

Sep 21, 2020, 11:49 AM

The SEC is too afraid to play the ACC, any OOC game had to be at home, and lots of smaller conferences aren't playing. We were lucky to have 22 warm bodies show up in pads to play us.

Years other than this one? We can talk about it, I guess. The Citadel can at least whoop up on SEC teams, so it could be worse. SC State and Presbyterian are the ones where I roll my eyes.

Come on, you would be wishing and pulling for the Mercy rule to be accepted by Muscoot the next time we obliterate the meth-dumpsters of cootlumbia

It is a good option to have if a team is just betting obliterated in 100 degree weather - just to look out for the players.

The “running clock” is a disgrace. If a coach accepts that

Sep 21, 2020, 1:16 PM

then he and his team should just quit and go home at the half instead.

What an insult.

Kudos to the Citadel for saying a hard NO!

They came back out and play hard the whole game and never stopped competing, unlike say, Louisville under Petrino that last time. THEY needed a running clock because they absolutely quit.

Teams should either play the entire game, or just don’t show up at all.
