DRad to change Tiger mascot costume?

Nov 10, 2013, 4:05 PM

Heard a rumor that DRad wants to make a more "family friendly" mascot style for the Tiger... is this true? I'll lose it if it is...

Yeah on TCI

I like the Tiger. (the original one)

I think that's actually one thing Clemson's marketing department did a good job with. Especially considering some of the other homely looking Tigers that other Universities use.

I would rather keep the current Tiger, (the original one) lose the purple and replace it with black, market the stripe, (more so than the paw) and use a little more white and less orange in our athletic uniforms.

LSU's Tiger mascot reminds me of Chester the Cheetah.

Less orange???

I understand the orange home jerseys, but I'm not a fan of the solid orange.
(I think it's too much) I don't like the purple either.

I'm right beside you in regards to the purple

Re: Less orange???

Nov 11, 2013, 9:01 AM

I think Clemson should replace the purple with black and market the stripe. (as well if not more than the paw)

I also think solid white/orange helmets with a bold (similar to Ohio State) black stripe (with paw accomplishment stickers only) would help sell Clemson's brand better. Considering Clemson was a military college, and it is the only university that runs down a hill to enter the field, (a vertical stripe) the stripe tells a little more to people that don't know anything about Clemson than the paw does IMO. And now that Dabo has made the standard best, the vertical stripe also looks like a number 1.

We could replace the orange rug on the hill with a black one, in an effort to further sell Clemson's brand.

Decently sized construction company in the lowcounty. I was in my late 20's and my company had been around for about 30 years. Immediately, I saw some room for improvement, and although I made some suggestions, I new when/where to keep my mouth shut, and how to pick my battles. It's only been seven years, but I'm still here - we've improved and fixed some things and the company has survived the recession and even grown a bit - and I'd like to think I played a part in helping that...

Long story short - D-rad needs to learn how to pick his battles if he wants to stick around for a while. It maybe seems trivial, but things like this are what people grow attached to. He starts messing with people's emotions and he might not make it even a few years. Keep in mind we were happy with our old AD - it isn't like we fired TDP because this guy was too good to pass up. I'm already skeptical, him being from GT and all - and this doesn't help sway me his way.

Family friendly my ####! I'm sick of all the politically correct bullsh*t. Scared we'll offend somebody. Afraid self esteem will be damaged. You can't cater to every idiotic suggestion someone comes up with and you can't make everyone happy. Are we ever going to get back to majority rule instead of caving to the minority just because they ##### about something?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

After considering this, the only way I'd go along with this

Nov 11, 2013, 9:17 AM

is if he gets us a real Tiger, like LSU. And regardless of who we're playing, before the team runs down the hill, we get to release a bunch of chickens on the field and let him run around and destroy them all. And no bowing down to PETA or the humane society when they inevitably complain. He allows us to do this, and we grant him the uniform change to the mascot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

won't happen***
