Kind of a strange article to single out the right but I will highlight on one thing in the article.

Civil rights cannot be sacrificed in the name of fighting extremism

“As a response to the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. embraced a host of invasive policies that didn't work, didn't make us safer, and didn't respect our civil liberties. We should not make the same mistakes in our response to the attack on the Capitol.” — Scott Shackford, Reason

Ed,

I think that disinformation is one of democracy's more serious challenges going forward.

OTOH, silencing some people because we question their information holds threats of its own.

I would like to think that we all could learn to promote critical thinking by demanding evidence.

I may be overly optimistic.

You cannot just "promote" critical thinking.

For the large majority of people, it has to be trained and you don't get it majoring in Women's Gender Studies, history, poly sci, etc.

One of my favorite sayings is 50% of the people are below average intelligence. It's sort of a play on words because it's just a math statement if intelligence follows a normal distribution, and with the fact that the median is close to the average for large samples.

Turns out intelligence does not follow a normal distribution. It is a left-skewed pareto distribution.

What that means to you is that since I am on the far right hand side, you are even more likely to be left of median. LOL
