Depends on which war?
W W II had one win the Medal of Honor(see the recent film Hacksaw Ridge).
Vietnam saw hundreds burning their draft notifications.

Is this a question about Coot players declining a bowl after their Prez accepted the invite?...

Is this vs. Peaceful Protectors

Feb 10, 2021, 3:19 AM

I think the chaos of Billions of dollars of govt and personal property destroyed, the loss of income for thousands of family owned businesses, looting, fires, destruction, not included the hundreds of deaths, the 60+ Guard injured, and 30-40+ cops killed and in addition about 2400 cop casualties.

Or did I miss the actual question?

With the draft gone, it's not an issue and Vietnam ended in 1975. For those that were honest about that declaration, I respect them. For those that lied about their status, I do not. For those that fled to Canada or elsewhere, I understand their desire to avoid going to Vietnam, but don't respect the choice.

For the conscientious objector, only they truly know if their motivation was honest or not. Those that lied have the luxury of living and not being injured while many who served, albeit with doubts, died and were maimed. That would personally be tough for me to live with.

Viet Nam was a useless war that we should have never gotten in to. LBJ has a lot of young men's blood on his shirt. I was totally against the war and tried to not get drafted but I would have gone if drafted. However, the lottery was installed and I missed the draft by 13 numbers. My draft number was 163 and they stopped at 150.

My number came up 54th. Didn’t matter though as I had already volunteered.

Alvin York was a pretty good conscientious objector.
