Coach’s Sons

Dec 18, 2019, 1:19 PM

Are any of CDS/CBV’s sons actually taking up scholarships. If so, just seems we could use the spots for others who actually need the Scholly....

history of Clemson football. It's probably not the best time to question the football staff in how they recruit and/or hand out scholarships.

Not questioning....asking. There’s a difference you know. Very happy with the class we have.

So you're asking a question, but you're not questioning?

Dabo determined that Brent's sons deserved scholarship offers to Clemson.

Dabo is the decision maker when any staff member's kid gets a scholarship offer.

Neither of Dabo's sons are on scholarship.

If BV had enough children to take up 5 scholarships every year for the next 10 years then it'd still be worth it considering what BV has done and continues to do for this program.

Also, I believe that Jake was a 4 star recruit wasn't he?

Why would it be a waste if they have earned the scholarship? Because they come from a wealthy family? Think about the lunacy of that statement. It is no different than saying “because this kid comes from a poor family, he can’t be admitted to this school or organization.” It’s no different. While this certainly isn’t the reality of life, in America we like to, at least, believe in the concept of egalitarianism and hard work. Many seem to have lost sight of that concept.

Ultimately, why should these boys be penalized because of who their daddy is or the position their daddy holds? That is wretchedly unfair and disgusting, and we should always strive to stamp out this spirit of judging others because of how much, or lack thereof, money someone has in their pocket. That’s how both the evil Commies and Godless aristocrats think, and there is too much of that sentiment these days. Don’t judge the man by his daddy. Judge the man by who HE is. We used to think that was what made America unique. We need to get back to that.

There is a difference between earning a spot and being handed a spot because of XYZ. I have no problem with Venable's kids making the team. They were 3/4 star prospects and could have played at some serious programs.

Dabo's kids on the other hand...would they play at a D3 school? Assume they don't eat up a scholarship so it is what it is. For those that say Dabo can and should do what he wants, that is 100% true. However, his kids could have worked with the team and still been affiliated with it instead of wearing the jersey they didn't earn.

Look at this way: this guarantees that BV will be here for years to come. I say, give his little girl a scholarship if it helps keep him.

The NCAA will not let a team stack coaches sons on a roster if they have been recruited and rated by recruiting services. If your kid is not being recruited he doesn’t have to take a scholarship but if he is ranked by a service and recruited by others he does.
