Clemson vs. North Carolina - flashback 1977

In the breakout year of 1977 Clemson went into UNC on a roll, 7 game winning streak after a close loss to then ACC power Maryland in the opener and the Tigers rose to a #13 national ranking.
It was during that streak Clemson won in Athens and Atlanta ($2 bills) on consecutive Saturdays.

North Carolina was pretty good too in the late 70's early 80's.

Unfortunately the result was a 13-13 tie. Pretty disappointing considering how well
the season had been going and Notre Dame was coming to town the next week.

I'll never forget watching the Charley Pell show the next day, and he said the loss was on
him because he had let the teams intensity peak too early in the week during practice.

"If we played the game Wed, we would have won 50-0"

The CU/UNC game was a classic in 1981.....10-8 for the good guys......both teams were in the top 5
