Clemson tennis splits decisions on Sunday

Clemson, S.C. -- The Clemson women's tennis team (5-5, 0-2 ACC) split decisions on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers opened the day with a 7-0 loss to Miami (3-3, 1-1 ACC) but then bounced back to defeat Wofford (3-2, 0-0 SoCon) in their second match of the day.

Miami 7, Clemson 0
Eleni Louka and Jenna Thompson earned a 6-3 victory on the No. 1 doubles court, however, the Tigers dropped the decision with losses at lines two and three. At No. 1 singles, Louka jumped out to hot start against the nation's No. 2 player Estela Perez-Somarriba and led, 4-2, before dropping the first set, 5-7, and ultimately the match, 5-7, 1-6.

Clemson 4, Wofford 0
Against Wofford, the Tigers dominated early, as Mackenzy Middlebrooks and Ali DeSpain took Court 2, 6-2, in doubles while Sophia Hatton and Cristina Mayorova clinched the point for Clemson on Court 3, 6-1. In singles, the Tigers won three-straight with Sophia Hatton (6-0, 6-1), Ali DeSpain (6-0, 6-0) and Lana Sipek (6-1, 6-1) each earning a point in the Clemson victory.

Eleni Louka and Jenna Thompson improve to 3-2 in doubles
Ali DeSpain and Mackenzy Middlebrooks move to 3-1 in doubles
The Tigers improve to 2-0 all-time against Wofford, blanking them for the second-straight season
