Clemson basketball long-term

Nov 2, 2016, 5:27 PM

This question is for those recruiting gurus or anyone else who has really followed our recruiting.

I'm quite confident that we're going to be very good this season, but I'm just curious what kind of team we can expect next season. Do we have the talent to remain competitively consistent once Blossomgame leaves?

The problem that has plagued Clemson basketball for years is that it can't remain consistent.

Please provide insight.

Long term issue at Clemson is 5 legit players at a time

Nov 2, 2016, 8:25 PM

It always seems that we can't find a way to keep a unit of 5 players together in a single season. Somebody is always transferring, graduating or leaving early and what could have been an exceptional "next year" comes up a man or two short of what could have been. This season might turn out to be the exception once ET becomes eligible at Christmas. He seems to be more of a power forward, but can play center. We are still overloaded at gifted guards, so next year should also be above average if Skara & Robertin can develop into playing center & move Thomas back to power forward. All told, we do have 5 legitimate starters, plus a talented bench, but the fits are a little forced.

I think they are considering Elijah as a 5 long term, and Skara will be exclusively a 4.

Brad is having his best recruiting class...

Coming in next season. 4 star wing guard AJ Oliver, 4 star PF Aamir Simms, and high 3 star combo forward Malik William. They can sign in the early signing period next Wednesday. There is a bit of an up tick in recruitung which is good to see...

Looks like we are going to be getting better.

Recruiting is obviously getting better.

Our freshman class next season is already

the best of the Brownell era. Two legit 4 stars. We'll add 1-2 more to that. If this season does result in what I believe it will, being in the dance, the future is very bright

I think the future is bright for Coach Brownell and the Tigers. He has had some problems fitting pieces together in the back court, but it was not all on him. This year he has a very solid, experienced front court and finally a deep, talented back court. This team will be able to play with anyone in the ACC or the country, barring critical injuries.
