Clemson Golf preview

Sep 22, 2016, 10:44 AM

Clemson, S.C.—Clemson will make its first trip to Nebraska to compete in an intercollegiate golf tournament when the Tigers play in the Jackrabbit in Valentine, Neb. The 54-hole event that includes 11 teams from the Midwest and the southeast will take place from Sunday, September 25 through Tuesday, September 27th on the par 72 Dunes Course that is 7,785 yards, the longest course Clemson has ever played.

Clemson is ranked 13th in the nation by the Golf Coaches Association and is coming off a third-place finish out of 14 teams at the Carpet Classic in Dalton, Georgia September 9-11. It is the second of five fall tournaments for Larry Penley’s squad.

Penley will play the same lineup he used at the Carpet Classic. Bryson Nimmer was Clemson’s top finisher at that event with a nine-under-par 207 score to finish fifth. Freshman Doc Redman had an impressive 206 score to finish 11th and senior Carson Young finished 19th with a 219 score. Josha Fickes and William Nottingham will round out the lineup. Clemson will be without senior returning All-ACC player Austin Langdale, who is recovering from a shoulder injury.

Impressive that freshman Doc Redman would already have a medical degree. ;)

That would make him Dr. Doc Redman. He is just an entering Freshman. Probably won't get that designation until 2017.
