Clemson/ATM World War 2

During World War II, Clemson supplied more Army officers than any other institution except for Texas A&M. Pretty cool stat going into today’s game.

That's an awesome stat. I have a friend who went to Clemson, and it seems a lot like Texas A&M. Both very classy institutions with devoted fans, the vast majority of whom are great people. The military tradition really stands out - we need more of that in universities today.

My brother Clemson class of 42 was one of them. Part of Patton's 3rd Army

My all time favorite line of Patton's at least from the movie:

"Your job is not to go over there like some poor dumb SOB and die for your country. It is to make the OTHER poor dumb SOB die for HIS country!"

That kind of directness was what both made Patton a great General, and a political liability. You can't have people going around and telling the truth in politics!

I could be wrong, but I believe Clemson's enrollment back then was much smaller than A&M? So, per capita, we probably were #1, not that it matters.
