Many and I will try and connect it to football. I was just telling my son how 1x a week we got a ticket for steak (or shrimp) and we were convinced the football players were getting as many steaks as they wanted every day.

And curious to know how many regularly worked on their PhD on one of the lower floors of the library? ?????

I didn't work on my PhD there, though I did write a few papers down in that hole.
I also "worked on" a nice co-ed named Jessica down there.
Man...I miss college.

Those omelette’s
Nov 14, 2017, 7:46 PM
|
|
Making an ice cream to go and tossing it against a Johnstone window and letting it slide down
Turning a tray sideways and jamming up the conveyor belt
Stealing a tray for sliding down the dyche
The best was when they opened the to go side for ease of getting a meal and leaving so you never had to eat alone in the actual place

Yep - the forward march of progress demands that the nasty old student union, etc. get gobbled up in favor of somethin flashy. Not all bad, just a different day and time.
The surest PhD track involved an omelette and one of those smoothies aka powdered sugar bombs...done deal.

That, and the fried chicken breast resulted in many Ph.D.’s from Harcombe.

One of the finest characters along with Amos & his sweet tea. Miss Iola had a prep station with individual containers of cheese, onions, peppers, and tomatoes, as well as one container with an "everything" mix. What follows is a true (daily) story - names have been changed to protect the innocent:
Iola: [stares with pursed lips waiting] Frosh: Uhh, I'll have an omelette with everything but onions. Iola: HUH? Frosh: Everything but onions, please. Iola: [sucks teeth, rolls eyes] So you don't want everthang? Frosh: I'll just do cheese, tomatoes, and peppers. Iola: [shakes head and utters long, exasperated huff audible above all the vent fans] So you want cheese and what? Frosh: Tomatoes and peppers. Iola: [purses lips, laboriously wanders back and forth between eggs on flat top and topping containers, and disgustedly flicks handfuls of each onto now overcooked omelette]
