Canes Coach Manny Diaz post game comments are fun to hear

Oct 11, 2020, 12:56 AM

Coach Diaz; "I can talk on the pros of Trevor Lawrence all day, but Travis Etienne is the guy. He is as good a player as there is in college football. Obviously, the whole plan is to not let them throw to Etienne on third down, but that's easier said than done. In the open field, he is so dangerous. We were unable to take away what they do best."

Good comments from Manny...he knows they lost to a better team.

Manny took the humbling fairly honorably ...

Loved the Travis Etienne part

You can tell how he spoke about ETN that it wasn't coach speak!

CU has to get Ngata healthy and making plays! I like Powell - but he isn't making plays. If it's an easy play - he is good for that. But, often you have to make contested plays for the ball. You have to be physical. A healthy Ngata making plays, Spector and Galloway underneath and the ever emerging Frank Ladson and EJ Williams and you have last years LSU. Why, because you don't know who to key in on. Right now, I am sure teams are going to be hell bent on stopping 9.

Our WR group had better be ready because Trevor will have to do it with his arm downfield. Surely the swing passes will be taken away. Teams will still stack the box to stop Travis( this would be my defense anyway - no way I let 9 beat me. TL would have to drop back and pass it on me). Ladson and Powell sometimes have the drops! They have to focus better!
The way they were saying Ngata was tearing it up in camp has me excited to see him on the field with Amari and Frank and Spec. As well as Galloway,Allen,Lay.

Diaz just kept it real - no excuses.
