I have a friend here at work who has a source in the know at CU. He says Watson is already doing some light jogging. Sounds really early to me, but maybe it's possible. Great news if true. Anyone have an update ?

Would a brace help significantly?

A brace should help....

particularly to stabilize any unwanted lateral movement. The bigger issue will be pain tolerance and inflamation.

Light jogging should help the swelling

Which in turn should help the pain.

Drew you were one of the first to declare the medical staff was actually able to diagnose this on the sideline and inferred that they knew it was a torn ACL but withholding information. So before anyone believes you on this, are you a dr? Or is google your source?

True about the lateral movement, however, if they have him jogging there must not be a great deal of swelling which could well indicate a minor LCL injury. Hard to tell without examining the knee.

If he's listed a day to day...

that tells me that it's a grade 1 LCL sprain. It's still pretty painful but it doesn't swell as much.

Well that settles it. We play Watson. He is only allowed to run straight. If he can't run straight any more then he must slide.
We still win by 30.

I'd allow him to dress out Saturday but wouldn't even think of allowing him on the field and I guess Dabo is worried about allowing him to run down the hill.

From a guy thats had a lot of knee problems I can tell you that is very possible. The LCL is actually much harder to damage than the MCL and especially the ACL. The second time I tore my MCL on my right knee I had just read and article on MMA fighters partially tearing MCLs and the docs were recommending that they take 800mg IB every 8 hrs. R.I.C.E. immediately after and then the following day do as much running, jogging, etc they can stand. I did this because at the time I was on a 16 man team in the very bad area in Afghanistan. I knew it was MCL because it was the 2nd one. I ran the following day. The swelling never got anywhere close to the first time. I didn't miss a single mission. It was a little weakened but it was never all that bad.
I don't think he even has a partial so it should be okay. He's got a great medical staff and S&C working with him. I think he probably could play this week if they wanted him to. Just my 2 cents
