Draw your own conclusions, but Etienne looks slightly more explosive than Spiller with more TD's on less touches. A real find. Spiller was no more of a blocker than Etienne. So Clemson coaches utilized Spiller's skills with quick hit dump-off passes giving him the ball in open space. This is one way to effectively stop the blitz by releasing the screen over the head of blitzers. Maybe we will see more of that in 2018 with Etienne, Feaster and Richard. It works and removes the need to keep a Gallman-like blocker in the pocket on every pass play.

His senior season was something special fielding kickoffs. Hopefully we can get a portion of that with Etienne.

Just my .02, but I'd shelve the Spiller comparisons for a while. Etienne is great, but hes had the luxury of competing with Feaster, who up until this last year has underperformed. Spiller did what he did as a freshman with james Davis. Etiennes acceleration is above average but his top end speed is not Spillers. That's just fact. But that doesn't necessarily matter as much. I'd take acceleration over top end if I only had one to choose. I'm not knocking Etienne, just want people to pump the brakes a tad when comparing him to the best running back in Clemson history, and the top 2 return men of all time in college. Im curious with a greater workload if he will be able to maintain the YPC, or if it will drop off a little with main duty. Either way, I'm excited about watching him. I never make long posts like this until this time of year when I'm phening for some football.

Etienne is a more violent runner than C.J. He hits the hole faster than anyone I’ve ever seen. Also Etienne seems to be better at breaking tackles especially if someone tries to tackle him around his shoulders

Etienne is great and gonna be a legend but what if Spiller had the luxury of playing on teams that are as talented as we are now?
