Redshirt year - Suspension year. Does it really matter if you have 5 years to play 4 and haven’t yet used a redshirt year? Help me out here.

instead of a sophomore with 3 years left to play. Basically this year counted as if he played.

Because of the PED suspension, this year is treated just like he played as far as eligibility. Now he has a max of 3 years to play 2 years eligibility left. His options are: 1- redshirt next year (not play more than 4 games) and still have 2 years of eligibility remaining, 2 - play 2 more years and be done, or 3 - play the full season next year and enter the draft.

It can be used for the same purpose as a (RS) year--bulking up, practicing with the team at the coach's discretion, learning the offense, blah blah--but it cannot be a RS year.

The rule specifically says it is a lost year of eligibility. So his football card bio will show NOTHING for his sophomore season.

He now has 2 years and 2 games to accomplish all his goals as a Tiger.

No, his suspension started the day his test came back positive. It is exactly 1 year suspension so he'll be eligible to play somewhere around 18 December, No earlier.

Actually I read your statement wrong. I thought you had put that he would be able to play in the ACCCG. He's been on the scout team all year and learning the offense better. He was beginning to be a star TE when he was suspended last year. Hopefully he's taken full advantage of this time to become stronger and better.
