James Dickey, US Poet Laureate 1966. A great (and jealous) admirer of Robert Frost. Read the poem "Falling", one of the greatest ever.... and btw, he taught English at USuC, and was very fond of George Dickel bourbon. In a reading one night, (I'm sure while under the influence), he confused "foot falls" with "foot balls"....

The last app 20 min of the movie was S.C.
A lot of what you see in the movie is now under lake Jacassee.

Deliverance was shot primarily in Rabun County in northeastern Georgia. The canoe scenes were filmed in the Tallulah Gorge southeast of Clayton and on the Chattooga River. This river divides the northeastern corner of Georgia from the northwestern corner of South Carolina.
About an hour from Clemson's campus.
Probably not the best example to bring up...

North Georgia about 11 miles from Clemson....those were your cousins...On the Chatooga river where we tubed in 69-72....great fun...lost some tubes but never a tuber!
