Think of the once in a lifetime players the Clemson has had.

Dec 19, 2015, 7:10 PM

We've said it about DW 4 , but we've actually had several over the past 8 years. And if all of them were on the team at the same time. Spiller, Sammy, Vic , Gain's Adams. Can you name more?
GO TIGERS!!

I thought of him. But he was on the team with Sammy. But he'd definitely put him on my all time list.

Christian Wilkens will be another all time great before all is said and done. He is the best kept secret on this team right now.

Bennie Cunningham came along at a time when Clemson

Dec 20, 2015, 3:31 AM

needed a star very badly. Without Bennie I don't know that Clemson would have had the 7 win season in 74 that was a stepping stone to bigger things.

Terry Allen has to be on the list. We have a list that played DE....

We really do have an all star DE list. But Terry Allen has to be.

Once in a lifetime ?

Dec 19, 2015, 9:06 PM

I've been going to Clemson games since 1968.

There have been a lot of great players over the years. I would only classify three players in the "once in a lifetime" category.

1) William Perry (The Fridge)
2) CJ Spiller
3) Sammy Watkins

There should be only one "once in a lifetime" player.

"The Coot Killer"

Charlie Whitehurst = 63-17 = 4-0 vs. The Chickens

I know hits career stats wasn't unbelievable but he is still worth a mention because he's the only Quarterback that has 4 wins on either side of our 120 year rivalry (domination )

Most amazing. 3 of top 10 current NFL receivers on same team

Dec 20, 2015, 12:01 AM

And somehow many Tiger fans believed Tajh Boyd was the player with the real talent. No disrepect to Mr. Boyd, but he was an above average QB passing to three WR's with NFL hall of fame talent levels.

Re: Most amazing. 3 of top 10 current NFL receivers on same team

Dec 20, 2015, 2:07 AM

Pay credit where credit is due, those WR never come to Clemson w/o Tajh and as good as his WRs were his O line was just as bad. You were probably one of the fans that thought Cole Stoudt was better than Tajh Boyd, probably still going to make the argument. Huge piece to building the program, no need to call him average.

Since no one loves the kicker ....

Dec 20, 2015, 7:24 AM

I'll add David Treadwell.

I can think of a half-dozen games he won for us on the last drive ... including back-to-back wins over the Dawgs. That earns him a free beer whenever I see him for life.

CJ Spiller gets my vote

Dec 20, 2015, 7:47 AM

There was a chance he'd take it to the house everytime he touched the football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dale Hatcher then, as well as Treadwell. And D Woolford.***

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.
