Interesting the folks that want more than anything for the ratings to be up, are the ones telling us the ratings are up. Go figure media gonna media. Things are the way they are because we say they are.

Headline leads one to think it is a single game but in actuality it is an average of all the games. The actual Championship is said to be up 6% in selected markets.
Last year's games began on NYE (Saturday) versus New Year's Day (Monday). Saturday NYE night for our game against Ohio St and the fact that our game had the trilogy tag is an extra boost, for this year's semis (Clemson). I'd expect more viewers to be locked in with the earlier games leading up to the Semis, on a Monday January 1st.
Seems like it was said to set records last year, too, but it is not sounding that way now. Ha

That appears to be only local overnight ratings.

I wonder how it fared nationally. Of course people from areas surrounding Alabama and Georgia tuned in to watch. But what about the other 75% of the country.
It sounds like this article is trying to get out in front of more realistic expectations and put some spin on what’s coming.

But how do we know for absolute certain? ESPN wouldn't dare say it was massive ratings between 2 SEC teams in the Title game. Just like CNN would never proclaim Hillary was dominating all those pre-election polls lol. Anyway, it may be right...it was a hell of a finish which was all I watched.

I'm not. I carefully considered it. It was an amazing game.

It involved lots of hard-hitting violence. It pitted two long-time rivals against one another. It David Vs Goliath (one team that hadn't won a natty in 37 years vs the supreme program in cfb right now) It involved a crazy come-back. It involved special teams drama, it went to overtime, it was a "walk-off" deep Touchdown, it involved one of the gutsyest coaching decisions of all time (QB swap) I mean.... that game had everything. And the defenses played very well, which makes it better than a high scoring shootout.
I stand by my statement. Maybe the best football game of all time.

I did not realize Trump was this popular. I did not watch the game because it started so late if it had been on a day I did not have to work then maybe I watch.

Nope watched a show that had Terry Bradshaw, the Fonz and George Foreman in it and laugh my tail off and then went to bed. I figured no use watching something that I would not finish watching.

Well lets see ESPN owns the playoffs ,. ESPN owns the SEC ,. ESPN had the entertainment picked out to please their Viewers ,. and from now on don't be surprised to see two SEC teams since they got away with it this time ., Its all about the money .,

I think ratings had more to do with the Bama selection than anything . Of course , I can't prove this hunch . Then again , you can't prove you're not a Dirtpecker.
