Article on recruit Arch Manning and our chances?

Oct 15, 2020, 11:58 AM

ESPN has feature article on Arch Manning. What are our chances to get him away from a rising TN and Ole Miss and to Clemson? I thought I heard at one point Clemson was high on his list. Anyone know?

Still a long way until anything as he’s 2023 but yes everything I’ve heard has pointed to Clemson as a legit contender if they choose to pursue which I anticipate happens next year

Not sure we want him....

My cousin and his fam are HUGE Vol supporters. They know the Manning family and even hang out with some of them time to time. They say this kid is a brat. Cocky and undisciplined. Wonder how long that would fly in the recruiting process with Dabo?

The 15 year old athletes who don't fall under that category are few and far between.

Cocky, undisciplined, don't yet know how to work hard, struggle with adversity, "all about me". I am around a TON of young athletes and at least a few if not all of those things apply to pretty much every one of them.

Let's hope the kid doesn't act the same way in college that he did as a freshman in high school, or nobody would want him.

Again, that's true for pretty much every young high school kid.

Isn't he only 15 years old though?

Sounds like a smoke screen so we don’t pursue:

I bet Tenn still wants him.

I thought he was in his 60s. Do we really need a QB that bad!

Nothing I've read about this guy gives us any chance.

It's 100% he goes to an SEC school.

He’s literally had sources state Clemson is a school they’d strongly expect him to go to and OU was another.

Arch is too young to receive official offers from colleges; however, it won’t be long until he’s the most sought-after prospect in the country. Most have figured that Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Duke are all in the mix. Local Louisiana reporter Mike Detillier was asked where he thinks Arch will end up, and neither were SEC programs. The 2 schools to watch, according to Detillier? Clemson and Oklahoma.

Actually there’s the direct quote

if you are a HS QB and wanted to set records

Wouldn't you want to go to an SEC school and play against those defenses??

The son of a former pro QB, sound like one we got recently and had to excuse from the program!
Don't think it worked out.

I hear but each of the prospects are the nephews of pro QBs and I would have to say that the personality of Jim Kelly as an uncle is probably slightly different than Peyton or Eli's personalities.

What does that situation have to do with this one?!?***

Everything I have read, only 2 articles, seems like a good kid that is a student of the game and loves it. The Manning family is very protective of him and I for one would love for him to come to Clemson. We do have a shot at him, we have the type culture the family likes, but it will be tough to pull him from the SEC.

Thinking about that family, I suppose being the son of the one who didn’t make it to the NFL made him a fierce competitor. I like his story and wish he would come to Clemson.

Sorry, I saw his dad is Cooper, the one who was a receiver but got injured and had to give up football.
