Reasons why Dabo won't go home to Alabama...

if Tuscaloosa calls after Saban's departure.
1) $$$ doesn't seem to be his main motivation. 2) Clemson is a nice place to live. 3) Why exchange the high expectations of Clemson for the hyper pressure of Alabama? 4) If you ever move back home, you hardly ever find the same things that made the place special when you grew up there. Places have changed, people have moved on, attitudes have evolved. 5) If CDS is fortunate enough to bring even one, let alone more NC's to Clemson, statues will appear and buildings with his name on them will be built, starting with the Clemson Tigers Coach Dabo Swinney Football Operations Center. 6) You don't move off and leave a place where they have named stuff after you
Of course, I could be wrong. Go Tigers!

I went back last night and viewed the videos of Dabo's hiring and of his speech at the groundbreaking of the new football facility last week. This man is 1000 percent invested in Clemson. I recall his words to the Board of Trustees on his interview (paraphrased). They told him they wanted Clemson to be a program like Michigan, LSU, and Alabama. He told them he wanted Clemson to be a program that Michigan, LSU and Alabama wanted to be like. And he has the total backing of the AD, President, and BOT to get there. He said that it's very rare to have all of those pulling in the same direction, but we do.
Clemson football will be the house that Dabo built. Tommy laid the foundation but Dabo is building it. I don't believe he would leave it for Bammer unless something totally went sideways at Clemson. He'll retire as HC in his late 60's and finish out his career as AD. And we'll enjoy the finest era of Clemson football for years to come.
I hope I live to see it play out.

Clemson doesn't do statues of coaches. Maybe a facility named after a coach, but no statues.

And can keep doing what he loves. He could have accepted a HC position leaving OK.

Defense is his calling, it is very obvious. We win the NC, why would he leave that? We just need to keep the $$ flowing and keep him happy.

there won't be a rediculous pressure in the future and fans forget what he's done for the program. (This sort of things happened to most college football legends.)
If he doesn't want to be here a long long time, I don't think he'll make a donation to build that new $55 million facility. He is building it and I'm sure he would like to see it go through. It's like you have a kid and want to see them grow and see their success.
But will he be torn when that job is open? Sure he will. Dabo is a passionate guy. He loves his Alma mater. But Clemson is his place now.
