Ninth Circuit Strikes Down Ban On High-Capacity Magazines
"A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday threw out California’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines, saying the law violates the U.S. Constitution’s protection of the right to bear firearms.
“Even well-intentioned laws must pass constitutional muster,” Appellate Judge Kenneth Lee wrote for the panel’s majority. California’s ban on magazines holding more than 10 bullets “strikes at the core of the Second Amendment — the right to armed self-defense.”
He noted that California passed the law “in the wake of heart-wrenching and highly publicized mass shootings,” but said that isn’t enough to justify a ban whose scope “is so sweeping that half of all magazines in America are now unlawful to own in California.”

You think the framers intended to cover magazines holding more than 10 bullets?
Once again, I think all guns should be legal, but think there should be limits to magazine capacity.

I think neither of us knows but if the framers had AKs or ARs they would have used them to kill redcoats to protect their homes and families. Duels would have been much more interesting, imo.

Whatever the government has, the citizens should have

the Framers didn't intend for the citizens to be outgunned by the Federal government ... that would definitely defeat the original point, don't you think ?

Rock on.
So now all we need to do is get smart bombs, stealth fighters, realtime satellite feeds, drones, targeting lasers, nerve gas, tanks, helicopters, aircraft carriers, cruise missiles, and atomic weapons into the hands of the militias and we can balance the power of the Federal government out with the state militias again...which was the intent of the 2nd Amendment.
I just don't see that happening.
The Constitution was written in 1787. Technology has unfortunately rendered the intent of that amendment largely irrelevant...though the GOP's thinking on the subject has assuredly not changed. Instead they allowed the NRA to frame the discussion...and all the NRA has done is protect their product, while claiming to be the sword defenders of the Second Amdendment.
They are not.
An adult's discussion of the 2nd Amendment simply cannot be had without asking: hey, what's the real balance we need to strike between state's rights...and the power of the Federal government?
You start answering that quesiton, and you start actually getting somewhere...and you start realizing that there is indeed a way out of this partisan logjam we are currently embroiled in...which is basically trying to force a one-size-fits-all solution onto the entire nation.
A ban on magazines (or not) doesn't change that discussion one iota. All it's going to do is make the body count larger for future mass shootings...while not actually helping to balance the power equation at all.

because unlike in previous warfare, weapons wielded by an individual can target more than one individual - many more.
But the original intent of the Constitution was to provide Citizens an opportunity to fight back, to actively defend their Freedom. The is the intent of the 2nd Amendment. To honor the concept of Honor.
And while I know that Liberals really, really don't get it,
there's a d*mn good many of us who'd rather go down fighting than giving in to the likes of you and your ilk.

being 1, when this amendment was ratified. But this is a big win for partially blind deer hunters that need 30 rounds to take down a buck.

Or maybe the judges are thinking about the private companies hired to protecting them from the radical leftist on the streets of Portland and Seattle.

But hey, we both welched on bets so we can talk about honestly in dedicated post.
Want to see photos of the attempts to burn buildings or maybe buildings burning at the hands of antifa and blm while we wait? How about attacks on cops using blinding lasers or low yield explosive? How about mollys and sticks used against police?
Choose your poison.

if you are in the mood to post photos of burning buildings, I say go for it.
Not sure how adding 30 rounds to a magazine is the answer here. At what point during the riots were cops running out of ammo, then getting over run because they did not have time to reload?

I was talking about the judges who slammed down the gavel on mag limits having considered their personal protection as motivation to make that decision.
Any comments about hunters needing more rounds to bring down a buck is at least as ridiculous and more so, imo.

the government..meaning their own government, which could act like China & gun down citizens protesting.
Hello Chinese & Hong Kongers!
Concerning the fact that our Founders didn’t realize that warfare would develop like it has, they did know that the Brits & American governments Did have cannons which were hard to come by from a citizen.
Thus, were they saying citizens could have more than a pistol or rifle? Ambiguous, isn’t it!

Are you cool if they start using high capacity firearms? Or does the 2A only support that right for folks afraid of communists/socialists/ whatever other ist word of the day that scares them.
You complain about blinding laser pens being used against police. Imagine what’s next.

Are you really comparing the actual "freedoms to assemble, speak, and vote"
in Hong Kong and Seattle as equitable somehow?
The "protestors" in Seattle and Portland are hired guns, nothing less, motivated to incite public fear and discord in advance of an Election; and also likely with the idea and intent that any Gov't responses would be widely published as Trump-ishly Totalitarian (again, just a simple attempt to create Media discord as Election manipulation).
The Protesters in Hong Kong are fighting for the Right to Speak Freely in any forum. And unlike in the US, some of them are actually Dying in the Attempt.
You f*cking Liberals will Lie about anything. You are as a group simply without redemption.
