Last Saturday was a hard pill to swallow. Outfitters running the few cranes we have to death so I decided to hunt ducks. Only shot 3 ducks then my team lost to Nancy’s Tate. Nothing to do then but lick my wounds and regroup. 4 man limit of cranes on the ground and headed home by 9 am leaving plenty of time to clean birds and see the Tigers beat the Irish!
I flew into Amarillo on 10/24 and headed up to a guy's ranch in far SE Colorado for a few days of DIY fall turkey and coyote hunting.
Man the sandhills were definitely heading South. Stopped in Dumas TX for groceries and could hear them chattering way high above me and later saw some huge flocks again wearing oxygen masks over the ranch.
Cool birds and way better to eat than coyotes or turkey!
